Preparing for Your AI Future - Concluding a 7-Part Series with the Ministry of Education

Over the past several months I had the privilege of partnering with Guyana's Ministry of Education to deliver Preparing for Your AI Future, a seven-part series built to move everyday Guyanese from AI-curious to AI-capable.

My conviction going in was simple: artificial intelligence is the most consequential general-purpose technology of our lifetime, and access to it cannot be a privilege reserved for a few. If Guyana and the wider region are to thrive in this new era, our people need more than headlines and hype. They need practical fluency, a healthy mental model of what these tools really are, and the confidence to put them to work in their own lives and livelihoods.

So we designed the series as a journey. We began by demystifying AI, separating what is real from what is imagined and grounding everyone in a shared sense of where we are and where we are headed. From there we got practical: how to actually talk to AI and get useful results, how to put an AI co-pilot to work in your day-to-day, and how to move from merely consuming AI to innovating with it. We then tackled the question on everyone's mind, what AI means for careers and the future of work, before helping each participant draft their own personal AI plan. We closed with a session of reflections on the journey we had taken together and the road still ahead.

Across all seven sessions the throughline never changed: AI should empower people, not replace them, and the surest way to secure our AI future is to place the technology, and the understanding to wield it, directly into the hands of our people.
